Many people ask the question, at what point does a writer become an author? Is it the moment you have your first book published or is it the moment you decide that’s what you’re going to do? I would argue that it’s the moment you decide on that course of action.
When I’m attending book events, I see this question of being a writer or an author coupled with some people’s desire to write a book. They may have an idea in their mind for a story or maybe the story is their life. Either way, they all have some excuse of why they haven’t put their story on paper or why they haven’t taken that first important step toward giving the gift of their writing to the world.
For all of those who ponder the question, “Am I a writer or an author?” I offer that the difference is purely a matter of choice.
